The full meaning

Rizz means charisma, charm, or natural skill at attracting people — usually in a romantic or flirting context, but it can also describe general social smoothness. Someone "with rizz" can talk to anyone effortlessly. It also works as a verb: to "rizz someone up" means to win them over with charm.

Where “rizz” comes from

Rizz is a shortened form of the word "charisma" (cha-RIZZ-ma). It was popularized by streamer Kai Cenat around 2021–2022 and exploded across TikTok and YouTube. It became so mainstream that Oxford named it Word of the Year in 2023, and it's still in heavy rotation today.

How it’s actually used

Mostly used as a compliment. Variations include "W rizz" (winning charisma), "L rizz" (failed attempt at charm), and "unspoken rizz" (attracting people without even talking). If someone jokingly calls a smooth talker "the rizzler," that's this word too.

He walked up to a total stranger and got their number — that's crazy rizz.
My little brother thinks he has rizz because one girl laughed at his joke.
She rizzed up the whole interview panel and got the job on the spot.

✔ For parents & teachers

Completely harmless. Rizz is playful and usually complimentary. If your kid says someone "has rizz," they just mean that person is charming or confident.
